Verlene T. Bridges, 75, of New Orleans, died Jan. 12, 2025, at the University Medical Center, New Orleans. She was born July 29, 1949, in Tylertown to the late Lucious Bridges and Willie Mae Thompson. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ella Mae Lee and Lollie Rose Gutter; and one brother, Charley Thompson.
She graduated from Tylertown High School. She was a lifelong member of Silver Creek Baptist Church on Tupelo Street in New Orleans where she held many positions including secretary. She worked and retired as a licensed cosmetologist.
Survivors are three brothers, Jessie James Thompson of Summit, Frank James Thompson Sr. of New Orleans and Bennie Thompson of Slidell; sister-in-law, Bridgette Thompson; special niece, Rosetta Armstrong; special friend, Danny Cobbs.
Funeral services were Jan. 18, 2025, at Craft-Dillon-Ginn Funeral Chapel with interment in Tylertown Cemetery.
