Carolyn Diane Patton (née Payne) died in Montgomery, TX, Feb. 1, 2025, at the age 71.
Diane was born on Feb. 17, 1953, the 2nd youngest of a large family in Tylertown. A graduate of Tylertown High School and Mississippi State University, she lived a full life as a wife, mother and professional; spending most of her career in the legal field, rising to group administrator of a global law firm.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Nelson Payne and Leila Bennett Payne; brothers Donald Payne, Jim Payne, Louis Payne, Roger Payne, Ralph Payne and Wayne Payne; sisters Peggy Payne Bealer, baby sister Mary Helen Payne, and Elsie Payne Sutton; nieces and nephews Deborah Faulkner, Linda White, Michael Tabor, John Payne, Janet Payne, Wesley Payne, Lee Sutton and Tamara Payne Tolar. She is survived by her husband, Joe Patton; son, Taylor Patton; brothers Jesse Nelson Payne II, Percy Payne and Larry Payne; sisters Catherine “Kit” Peneguy, Sue Guillory and Barbara Delnero; nieces and nephews Robert Tabor Jr, Douglas Tabor, Jeff Sutton, Renee Lampkin, Wyndham Payne, Sheila Benoit, Kent Payne, Kristen Kinter, Mark Peneguy, Cory Forbes, Bryan Payne, Brandon Payne, Courtney Pittman, Roger Glen Payne, Rodney Payne, Randy Payne, Cody Payne, Cole Payne, Casey Payne, Daniel Delnero, Kyle Delnero and Chelsea Delnero and many beloved in-laws.
Her intellect, quick wit and curiosity were evident to others. She enjoyed playing games of strategy, taking care of her plants on the back porch and visiting the family land in Tylertown, helping her son & husband develop their piece of it.
There are no formal service plans, per her wish.
