James Allen Fairley, 84, of Clinton, a native of Tylertown, died Feb. 1, 2025, at the Woodlands Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Clinton. He was born May 5, 1940, in Collins, to the late Frank Fairley, Sr., and Etta Magee.
He found interest in vehicle maintenance where he later became a driver for business owners in the community. James was an avid construction worker and machinist. His favorite pastime was fishing and hunting.
In quest for work, he migrated to Tylertown where he met and married Rosie B. Badon in 1960. He was a member of the Magee’s Creek Missionary Baptist Church. In 2005, he retired from his positions with Panuco Contractors in Baton Rouge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie B. Fairley; one son-in-law, Dr. John E. Holmes Sr.
Survivors are his daughter, Carolyn J. Fairley-Holmes, Clinton; two grandchildren, John E. Holmes Jr., Clinton and Melody R. Hayes (Jaquivous Hayes), Dallas, Fort Worth, TX; one great grandson, Jaxon Eric Holmes, Clinton; one brother, Ozie Lee Fairley, Gulfport; two sisters-in-law: Betty Jean Graves, Mount Olive, and Julenne Fairley, Gulfport.
Funeral services were Feb. 8, 2025, at Craft-Dillon-Ginn Funeral Chapel, Tylertown, with Pastor Jennifer Biard officiating with interment in Magee’s Creek MBC Cemetery.
