Joyce Ruth Magee, 86, of Sandy Hook, died May 11, 2025. She was born April 18, 1939, to the late William “Bob” Robert Harrell and Susie Louise Baughman Harrell. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Douglas Lavelle Magee; daughter Dana Wanette Magee; brother Carl Harrell; sisters Margie Pope, Dorothy Harrell, and Bobbie Jean Harrell.
Funeral services were May 15, 2025, at Carson Springs Baptist Church, Sandy Hook, burial in Carson Springs Cemetery, Bro. Archie Herrin and Bro. Bo Walker officiating.
Mrs. Magee was a longtime member of Carson Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed studying her Bible, spending time with family and the ladies in her community. Sewing was a preferred hobby of her and she loved making skirts, dresses and outfits along with altering jackets and other clothing for those she loved.
Survivors include her son, John Magee; daughters, Monica Duncan (Mike), Lisa Acree; grandchildren, Heather Jetton (Brad), Josh Broom (Skylar), Amanda Johnsey (Ben), Frank “Quint” Acree, V, William Duncan, Jr (Jennifer), and Sarah Temples (Brian); great grandchildren, Cooper Johnsey, Swayze Johnsey, Marleigh Johnsey, Winston Broom, Taylor Ann Jetton, Hunter Kate Jetton, Tyler Duncan, Bell Duncan, Tate Temples, Nathan Duncan, and LenLee Temples.
Pallbearers were Kevin Herring, Stanley Herring III, Josh Broom, Ben Johnsey, Frank Acree V, and Brad Jetton.
Honorary pallbearers were Cooper Johnsey, Winston Broom, Swayze Johnsey, Tyler Duncan, Tate Temples, and Nathan Duncan.
