Shirley A. Holmes, 80, of Tylertown, died May 11, 2025 at the Lake View Hospital in Covington. She was born April 14, 1945, in Tylertown to the late Leslie O’Bryant and Lena Smith O’Bryant. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, David L Holmes; brother, Eldon O’Bryant; sisters, Audine Rushing, Rachel Rushing, and Melba Burnthorn; nephews, Donnie Burnthorn, Steve Rushing, Roy Rushing, Eldon O’Bryant, Jr, and Norman O’Bryant; nieces, Sandy Burnthorn and Karen O’Bryant.
Funeral services were May 14, 2025, at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home, burial in Tylertown Cemetery, Brother Winston Fortenberry officiating.
Mrs. Holmes truly had a green thumb which was noticed in her roses and yard. When she was able, she loved to travel with her husband and family.
Survivors include her son, Keith Holmes (Yvette); nephew, Daryl Burnthorn; nieces, Linda Gale Rushing, Sheila Stegall; brother-in-law Jewell Holmes (Ann); sister-in-law Ruth Brock; special friend and caregiver Pat Lewis.
Pallbearers were Roger Ginn, James Tate, Taylor Barrett, Mike Rushing, Caleb Rushing, and Kevin Hill.
