Jimmie Dale Ervin, 82, was born July 13, 1943, and died Oct. 1, 2025, at Wesley Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Will and Ouida Vince Ervin; siblings, J.W. Ervin, Charles Richard Ervin, Peggy Fortenberry, and brother-in-law, Louie Fortenberry.
Survivors are his son, Tim (Melissa) Ervin; stepson and devoted caregiver, Billy King; sister, Renet (Larry) Tullos, sister-in-law, Carolyn Ervin; a host of nieces and nephews; and his beloved great-great nephew and niece, Watson Foreman and Rollins Foreman.
Jimmie spent much of his career working at Borden Milk Company in Franklinton, LA, and Jackson, MS, and later at Jackson Packing Company. In his retirement, many came to know him as “the peanut man,” faithfully selling boiled peanuts and produce by the roadside. More than just a way to pass time, he found joy in meeting people from all walks of life.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Carson Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Sandy Hook Oct. 9, 2025, at 2 p.m.
