Frank Alton Lewis, 78, of Tylertown, died Oct. 31, 2025, in Hattiesburg. Funeral services were Nov. 8, 2025, at Dexter Mt. Olive MB Church in Tylertown, burial was in Andrews-Magee Cemetery. He was born Sept. 17, 1947, in Tylertown, to Walter Lee and Sallie Magee Lewis. Lewis attended school at Walthall County Training School and later at J.J. Gulledge. He married Rachiel Dexter early in life and they had two children; later in life, he married Lois-Marie Andrews and to this union they had two sons.
Lewis was a member of Dexter Mt. Olive MB Church and retired from the MDOT in 2001. He was known for planting a “community garden” for anyone who wanted fresh vegetables. He believed in giving back to his family, friends and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marty “Jackie” and Dewitt Delas “Baylo” Lewis; father and mother-in-law, Lewis and Celestine Andrews.
Survivors include his wife, Lois-Marie Lewis; four sons, Jonathon Lewis, Jeremy Lewis, Randy (Lesia) Lewis and Dorneail (Jackie) Magee; daughter, Jacqueline (Raymond) Payton; grandchildren, Darrien, Sedale, Miriam, Honor, Colby, Corbin, Casey, Alexandra and Anna Elizabeth; great-grandchildren, A’Dale, Ethan and Kylin; aunt, Wilene Ellzey; sisters, Mae Evelyn Steele, Frances (Charles) Wright, Joann (Roosevelt) Smith, Ruthie Long, Janice Clark and Sharon Magee.
