Deacon Percy E. Quinn, 97, died Dec. 11, 2025, at his residence. He was born Aug. 16, 1928, in Tylertown, to Easley Percy (E.P.) Quinn and Mozilla Quinn. After the passing of his mother, his father married Bertha Quinn. He was the great-grandson of Monroe Quinn and Fanny Quinn, grandson of Jap Quinn and Rosaline Quinn, all of whom preceded him in death.
Deacon Quinn received his early education at St. Paul Elementary School in Tylertown, and later attended Magee’s Creek High School, where he completed his secondary education. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served 20 years of active duty to his country. During his military service, he served with distinction as part of one of the black troops of the 24th Infantry Regiment during the Korean War. While serving, he married Alyne Fortenberry, and they had one son, Oliver Houston Quinn. Alyne passed shortly after childbirth.
While still in the military service, Deacon Percy Quinn united in marriage with Dorothy DeJoice Hampton for 71 years, and to this union six children were born, Linda (Henri) Terry, Beverly Thompson, Easley (Evelyn)Quinn, Patricia (Dennis) Guyton, Tony (Nisa) Quinn, and Yolanda (Carl) Frazier.
After completing his military service, he continued his education at Alcorn University and went on to hold numerous occupations.
Services for Deacon Percy Quinn were Dec. 19, 2025, at St. Paul M. B. Church in Tylertown, Minister Yolanda Frazier officiated the services. Burial was in the St. Paul Church Cemetery.
Services were entrusted to Craft-Dillon-Ginn Funeral Chapel, Tylertown, MS.
