Norma Jean Barnes, 86, of Tylertown, died Feb. 16, 2026. She was born Dec. 12, 1939, in Mt. Hermon, LA, to the late W C Boyd and Myrtle Mae Miller Boyd. Along with her parents she is also preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Fleet Barnes; and brother, Gaylon Boyd.
Visitation was Feb. 18, and 19, 2026, at Centerville Baptist Church (Lexie) in Tylertown. Burial was in Centerville Baptist Church Cemetery. Bro. Tom Burris, Bro. Mike Anderson, and Bro. Herman Eldridge officiated. Hartman Hughes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Norma was a member of Centerville Baptist Church. She started her career with a propane gas company as a bookkeeper and later became the manager until her retirement. She was dedicated to her job for 32 years. Mrs. Barnes also co-owned Barnes Kwick Stop and Barnes Meat Plant. After her retirement she found her true passion in life which was spending time with her grandchildren, mowing and caring for her yard.
Survivors include her son, Randell Jerry Barnes (Regina Hayes); daughter, Lisa Annette Polk (Tonie); brother, Allen Boyd (Juretta); grandchildren, Clint Polk, Deanne Minarik, Amanda Reyes, Angelia Murphy, Brandon Polk, Amber Breland and Sandra Barnes; and 19 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Clint Polk, Brandon Polk, Drew Polk, Garrett Murphy, Brandon Minarik, Wyatt Minarik, and Cody Breland.
Honorary pallbearers were Jewel Holmes, Buck Johnson, Tommy Johnson, Greg Smith, Keith Brock, Bubba Lang, Ralph Stinson, Doug Grammer, Tonie Polk, and Jerry Fairburn.
