Gregory “Greg” Brett Ard, 57, of Tylertown, died July 3, 2026. He was born in Tylertown on Nov. 21, 1968, to Hollis Ard and Genelle Thomas Ard. Greg attended Walthall Academy, where he was an outstanding basketball player. He competed in the All-South Mississippi State championship and received numerous awards. He enjoyed talking with his grandmother, Rebecca Thomas, and father Hollis, and used all their wisdom to have a good outlook on life. For 30-plus years, Greg worked at the Piggly Wiggly in Tylertown. During his time there, he became known for his genuine love for people, his infectious attitude, and the positive impact he had on everyone he met. Greg was an avid sports fan and loved spending time with his family. He will always be remembered for being the first one to dip the chicken and dumplings at family dinners.
Greg is survived by his beloved mother, Genelle Thomas Ard; brothers, Hollis Winton Ard (Angelique) and Keith Ard (Amy); nieces, Hollie Simmons (Juliane) and Savannah Urbanic; nephews, Lawrence Ard, Drew Berthelot, Drake Berthelot, and Nicholas Urbanic; the family of Jeremy Ard; mother-in-law, Louise Mooney (Ted); sister-in-law, Melissa Urbanic (Daniel); and brother-in-law, Dennis Mitchell Boyd;.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lisa Boyd Ard; father, Hollis Ard; brothers, Gary Dale Ard and Troy “Brent” Ard; nephew, Jeremy Ard; and father-in-law, Mitch Boyd.
Visitation was July 5, 2026 and July 6, 2026, at Capps Funeral Home, Tylertown. Burial followed in Enon Cemetery. Bro. Duane Ball officiated the services. Hartman Hughes Capps Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Kyle Breland, Jerry Boyd, Rico Magee, Jacob Creel, Lawrence Ard, and Wallace Lowe. Honorary Pallbearers were Ricky Lee, Raymond Lee, Drew Berthelot, Drake Berthelot, David Johnson, and the staff of Tylertown Piggly Wiggly.
