Douglas Walter Hutchins, 76, of Brookhaven, died June 28, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Carlsbad, New Mexico, on March 19, 1950, to Joe Hutchins and Evelyn Huggins Hutchins.
Douglas was a very talented person in his life of 76 years. He served in the U. S. Army. He worked in the FBI and CIA. He was a Baptist preacher and a choir director and sang in a gospel group. He was also a carpenter and cabinet maker. Overall, he was a good son, brother, husband and father. He will be deeply missed and always loved.
Preceding him in death are his parents and sister, Becky Hutchins.
Those left to cherish his memory are his husband of 30 years, Devon Cothern; children, Renee Hutchins, Wade Hutchins, and DeDe Hutchins; brothers, Joe Hutchins and Bill Hutchins; and sister, Anna Williams.
